As an award-winning artist known for hyperrealistic oil painting,

I focus on capturing not just how your wedding looked, but how it truly felt.

Each painting requires a deep level of attention and time, which means I intentionally take on a limited number of weddings each year.

This allows me to honour every couple with the care and craftsmanship their story deserves.

<What is Live Wedding Painting and How It Works>

Live wedding painting is a truly one of a kind way to preserve your wedding day. Unlike photography, an oil painting holds depth, texture, and presence that cannot be replicated or copied, making each piece entirely unique. Created with the highest quality materials, the artwork is designed to retain its richness and colour for generations, becoming a meaningful heirloom that can be passed down within your family.

On the day, I begin by capturing reference photos of your chosen scene, then paint on-site during your reception as the atmosphere and moments naturally unfold. Guests are able to witness the process, adding an engaging and memorable element to your celebration. By the end of the evening, the painting is complete around 70%, after the reveal I take it back to my studio to refine the finer details, varnish, and frame the piece. Your finished painting is then carefully prepared and delivered to your home within approximately 6 to 16 weeks.

✨About Mina Lee

self portrait oil painting by art award winner Mina Lee

Where It All Began

In my 20s, I travelled across the world with a quiet sense of emptiness, constantly searching for something I could not name. During that journey, I met my husband in Darwin, Australia. Deeply fall in love and soon after we married, and I became a mother. Life had changed quickly, but behind the joy I found myself slipping into a Postnatal Depression.

One ordinary afternoon, the house was in its usual mass, and after finally settling my 2boys down for a nap, I collapsed onto the couch in complete exhaustion. Something sudden and overwhelming rose inside me, an unexplainable urge ‘I gotta draw!’

I grab paper and a pencil and began drawing almost instinctively. When my husband came home that evening, I still remember the surprised looks on his face.

From that day on, I gathered every spare minutes I could find, any small fragment of time, I drew.

Since that day I never stopped.

Pencil drawings became colour pencil drawings and I finally settled on oil painting.

What I had been searching for across the world was not outside of me. It had always been within me. Through painting, I rediscovered my sense of presence and purpose.

Each brushstroke became proof that I was still here, still creating, still alive.

Art is not just what I do. Art literally saved me. It is my lifeline.

Today, as a fine artist based in Sydney. I work across both live wedding painting and fine art. While my studio practice allows me to explore deeper narratives and atmosphere through oil painting, live wedding painting brings me into real moments filled with emotion and connection. Whether in the studio or at a wedding, my goal is the same, to transform meaningful moments into timeless artworks that can be treasured for generations.
